The Security Council of the United Nations Organization will consider the situation in Ukraine following Sunday's presidential election on Wednesday evening, Yevhen Perebyinis, the director of the Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry's department of information policy, announced at a news briefing.
"A session of the UN Security Council is scheduled for today. It will take place at 22:00, Kyiv time, in the format of a public briefing on the situation surrounding Ukraine in the context of the presidential elections," said Perebyinis.
In this regard, he said that the United Nations' Under-Secretary-General Jeffrey Feltman would have to deliver an address.
Attention will be focused mainly on events in eastern Ukraine.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the United Nations' Secretary General Ban Ki-moon recently called on all sides to create a safe environment for citizens in eastern Ukraine to vote in the May 25 presidential elections.
