Officers from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) jointly with other law-enforcement agencies on Thursday completed an operation for liquidation of a channel of contraband travel to Ukraine of cocaine, as a result of which they seized two Ukrainians, a Russian, a German and a Bulgarian in Ivano-Frankivsk region and in Lviv region suspected of involvement in smuggling 1.2 tons of the narcotic, SBU press service chief Maryna Ostapenko has told a news briefing.
In her words, the cocaine was detained in mid-July in a seaport in Odesa region.
Four contraband suspects were detained in Ivano-Frankivsk region and one in Lviv region.
This special operation was held on territory of Odesa region, Ivano-Frankivsk region and Lviv region jointly with the State Customs Service, the State Border Guard Service, the Prosecutor-General's Office and partners from abroad.
