Some 2,500 of supporters of the Party of Regions are holding a mass action near the building of the Central Electoral Commission in Lesia Ukrainka's Boulevard to back president candidate Viktor Yanukovych, the leader of the Party of Regions.

The demonstrators are carrying national flags and flags with the Party of Regions logos.

Members of parliament from the Party of Regions faction are speaking to the demonstrators from the stage.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the presidential election runoff was held in Ukraine on February 7.

Yanukovych won 48.95% of votes, and presidential candidate, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko received 45.48% of votes, according to results of vote count of 99.91% of protocols from precinct election commissions.

The Party of Regions is about to start an open-end protest action Ukraine for Fair Elections! on the square in front of the Central Electoral Commission on February 8.

The party applied for approximately 50,000 people to take part in the event.
